I bought a VAG product because fuck wally

Despite my daily driver Impreza being essentially beyond reproach, I was bored and needed a change. Enter my new 2016 GTI. I got a 4 door Autobahn Trim with DSG, Performance and lighting packages and couldn't be happier. This car handles amazingly for an fwd and having driven a non performance pack car you can absolutely feel a difference leaving corners thanks to the LSD.

The engine has gobs of torque and at altitude the turbo is a breath of force-fed fresh air. I can finally pass other cars without any fuss.

One thing that I do not like about the car is that my mother in law backed into it on the second day of ownership and did $1200 of damage to the rear fender, but mechanically it's fine and I get to drive like a complete cunt.

fuck VAG and fuck VW.

Seriously though - those are super nice cars. I loved my GTI (for the time I had it). It was the last generation, so I imagine that this is even better. From the reviews I've read, it certainly sounds like it is. What's with the DSG though?

I got the DSG because my wife sucks at driving manual and I wanted something that she could drive just in case/if i'm drunk. I had also read the pedal placement on GTIs isn't very good for heel toe action, and my E30 is manual and has awesome pedal placement.

Oh - you kept your E30. That's OK then. Otherwise, the DSG's pedal placement is even worse.

How can the DSG pedal placement be worse? And VS, what size shoe do you wear?

Yeah I have no idea what wally meant by that. I wear a 11.5 US/ 10.5 AUS shoe.

Another negative of the mk7 manual is that the clutch is really weak, so if i ever decide to chip the car the DSG is better.

Really?

Two pedal, pedal placement is worse for heel-toe shifting than any three pedal, pedal placement.
