Key fob reprogramming

Key fob reprogramming

Postby Swerve » Tue Nov 04, 2014 12:06 pm

I replaced the battery in one of the Audi's key fobs but have not been able to reprogram it. There is a very straightforward walk through on YouTube that supposedly works for all VAG cars and is performed on an A3 Sportback anyway...
Basically you turn the car on using the working key, then put the new key in the door lock, press the button, manually lock/unlock and you're done. But no dice!

This should probably be in the gripes thread but I like the only European post being a complaint about key programming...

Quick update for all the topic subscribers. On Saturday I randomly tried to unlock the car and it worked, followed by a lock and then an unlock again. Then it went back out of sync. Today I unlocked the car at work, but was not able to lock it at home.

This is more confusing than when it simply wasn't working...
