Just called and questioned about timing for a deposit / preorder.

Sounds like it'll be out next summer. From everything I've read, this car looks like it might be absolutely phenomenal. 2-3 hundred fewer pounds. Better fuel economy. Higher reving engine. The same (or a little more) power out of the 2.0 L skyactive engine. So performance will undoubtedly improve. And the price will stay about the same.

Never mind the new (awesome in my opinion) styling).



I think it might actually be it. The car that makes me stop wanting to buy something different. Have to sell the MG, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've enjoyed it for a year.

I agree. This is a potentially sensational car. I'm also glad to see the back of the ugly bubble wheel arches that the MX5, RX8 and even S Class developed last generation.

The dude at the local Mazda Dealer here said it wouldn't be out until Summer 2016. With reservations being taken in December 2015. That doesn't sound right to me. The various internet sources are saying it should be about a year before that. Summer / Fall 2016 for showroom, and February 2015 for deposits being taken.

I'm hoping they're right and the Mazda guy is wrong. The dude did then try to sell me on a 25th Anniversary 2015 model (with PRHT!), which I wanted no part of. So I'm hoping he was just extending the 2016 release date in the hopes that he could sell me on this other thing.

Those are pretty sharp. I still wish there was a hardtop option. Not a big fan of converts... but wouldn't kick one out of bed either :hump:

How much power are they going to make?

Anyway, discussed it with my wife - and she's totally on board. So assuming I can figure out when it's actually going to be released, I might be among the first people in Edmonton to pick one up.

I assume Mazda will do the usual and drastically over price it for the Canadian market. Buggers.

The front is meh, the back is sexy as hell though.

I like it all around, improvement over the previous generation for sure...would make an even better coupe.

I'm sorry, I just don't buy that. It would be lighter, sleeker, and more practical as a coupe.

Not saying its not worth owning as a vert, I just don't see how a coupe shouldn't exist, especially with no other sports cars in their lineup.

I'm not buying that, either. Coupe looks damn good. Would smash...

The current gen has a folding hardtop option. They won't bother with a fixed roof model while that exists as sales leader.

I hear they're also quite a bit smaller than the NC; close to NB-sized actually.

also, doesn't make much sense for a 2016 model to be released in the middle of the calendar year. Even if it were a 2016 1/2, it might still be released in the spring of that year at the very latest. Releasing it in the summer means it may as well be a 2017 model.
I'm betting the salesman meant summer of '15, with orders being taken this December. If not, he was talking out of his ass.
