Since everyone else had buying a car threads I thought I'd post what I bought this last month or so

1991 Honda Nighthawk

Image
2001 Dodge Grand Caravan for the wife

Image
1982 Dodge Aries for a beater rally

All three cost me less than $2500

Which beater rally?

Nice score!

Score!

Are you a big motorcycle guy? I'm kind of motorcycle-curious. It sounds like a lot of fun but I'm just too damn scared to drive a motorcycle here in SoCal. Maybe on country roads or something. What are the specs on that Nighthawk?

Those are all great.
Like Sombrio, I'm mo-curious but scared of the dying aspect of mo-wnership.

It is my first bike. Its only a 250cc I get made fun of for my toy or girly bike but its a lot of fun. Great bike to learn on. Could use another gear for the highway - only a five speed. Haven't died yet so that is a positive. Hopefully riding defensively and not like a retard will help.

And yes Canada so many Tim Hortons. People love them for some reason.

Here is the Beater Challenge - https://greatbeaterchallenge.wordpress.com/

1200kms mostly through the mountains. I'm a little worried as the K-car is so gutless with a carb.

Nice bike. I still toy with the idea of learning how to ride, and buying something not not particularly fast - but good looking and interesting - Triumph Bonnyville or something similar.

THe challenge looks awesome - but, yeah, that route gets hilly, quickly. Could be interesting to see how the car performs with that kind of altitude change.

Something seems off with those points, though.

I'm not sure that a person doing the trip in a 1989 Volvo should get 100 more points than someone doing it in a 1990 Chevy...

The Aries survived the whole trip ... mostly.

Aries was slow, slow.

added a paint tray cold air intake to combat overheating.

Sold it when I got home. Bought a V8 TR8 instead. It is actually more blue than the green it looks like in the photo.

That is awesome!

I've never seen a paint tray intake before... Only dustpans....

At least it would have been heaps of fun :D

That's a pretty Triumph. Looks to be in great shape, too. How's it run? On a scale of good to British?

It runs great. Awesome V8 rumble. Almost none of the electrics works. When I bought it the signals, lights, brake lights, wipers, heater fan didn't work. So far I spent a bit of time and get the headlights to work - only one pop up light comes up now. Should be able to sort the rest. Brakes need bleed too. But I got it for a good price.
