Classic Recreations

Nobody buys these cars because they are the best value or top performers for the crazy money being asked. They buy them because they are ultimate expressions of what can be achieved given modern tech and a classic base.

With that in mind, which do you like most?

Singer 911
Carbon fibre panels
"Best-of" models amalgamation

Eagle E-Type
4,000 hours rebuilding/upgrading original
Toughened and sleekened looks

Frontline Developments MGB
304hp Mazda engine, < 900kg

All three are beautiful but the Jaguar probably comes out on top looks wise. The Porsche is likely the most usable but who cares about that? Jaguar for me.

Jag for me. Simply gorgeous.

The other example I like is the Heritage C-Type Jag. My british car mechanic builds them for people in Edmonton - $100 000 car, but damn it's gorgeous.

Sorry, Singer Porsche for me. Classic Porsche styling with modern Porsche underpinnings? Um yes please.

I really like the original E-Type and the Eagle gets rid of most of its obvious styling flaws. I'm not much of a 911 fan. But the Singer somehow wins for me. They really have taken the best bits of a 50 year model run and nailed the final product.

Poor MGB is getting no love.

Seriously, 300 + horsepower in that thing would be ridiculously fun.

I knew it wouldn't but it is definitely worth a mention. In real life it would be a lot of fun - covert and authentic on the outside yet modern, rigid and quick. All class.

Singer all the way. With the E-type, I'd rather the original.

call me crazy (and you will), but as beautiful as the E-Type is, I always thought that the D-Type was more beautiful. I'd love to see somebody do a recreation of that.

I always loved the D-Type. There are plenty of cheap home-made copies out there, along with multiple companies building faithful replicas costing many hundreds of thousands.

...but to have one with more modern guts would be amazing.

That's tough between the Porsche and Jag, but I gotta go Porsche.

The Singer is my dream car, I would love to own one but god damn are they pricey.
